Maybe it’s the cold weather. Maybe it’s the post-holiday blues. Maybe it’s the fifth wave of a pandemic. Maybe it’s all of the above (it’s definitely all of the above). But January was pretty isolating and lonely at times.
We started thinking back to the things that really got us through in March 2020 and it wasn’t so much the “what” but the “who”. It was coworkers who surprised us by dropping off our favourite latte. Family members who conquered their technology phobias and figured out how to play trivia games over Zoom. Friends who made time for distanced walks with us, or created semi-permanent structures in their backyards just so we could spend time together outside safely (and warmly).
This month, we’re committing to a little more human connection. A few more surprises for the people we care about. And a whole lot more kindness - for those around us, and for ourselves.
We’re challenging ourselves to six acts of kindness throughout February.
Want to join us?
You can follow along and participate on Instagram or Facebook (we’re @Unbelts over there). We might even have some fun surprises planned for our customers 🤫.
First up on our list? Sending a note to someone we care about. We’ve made it super duper easy and created a printable sheet that you can pop in the mail, or snap and pic and send it virtually to your bestie, your partner, your favourite aunt - you get the idea. We’re big adult colouring book fans over here, so there’s room to colour in the lines…or to leave it black and white if that’s more your style.
Want to win matching belts for you and your bestie?
Share your note on Instagram and tag @Unbelts and you’ll be entered to win.
This month we're embracing loving where we're at - the nails, the fails, and everything in between. We challenge you to write down one thing that you love about yourself (big or small).
Surprising someone with a tiiiiny gift.
Sometimes the little things are the big things. A freshly baked cupcake. A new bookmark. A cute coffee sleeve.
Here are a few ideas for upcycled gifts that are easy to love (and easy on the planet).
A kinder month includes being kind to ourselves. Need some inspo? Here’s how our team is treating ourselves this month:
Sabrina: Reading, taking time for art, and making matcha lattes. There’s something nice about taking the time to go through the steps and do something that brings you joy.
Krista: Getting outside for long walks on nice days.
Natalie: Taking more long baths with a good book and nice warm tea.
Devonne: Continuing my Tom Cruise movie marathon (So far this month I’ve watched Risky Business, Cocktail, and Jerry Maguire) with a big bowl of popcorn and a glass of wine.
Bex: Stretching and taking the time meditate more.
