Meet Unbelts (Re)Mix

Designed, fabricated, and sewn in Edmonton. Fully customizable by you.

Our way of turning big challenges into bright opportunities.

What do you do when you keep finding copies of your own product online? How do you keep innovating when you’re still carrying inventory that didn’t sell during the COVID-19 pandemic? We’re not the only independent brand asking these questions. The (Re)Mix Unbelt is our answer, and the most exciting, joyful project we’ve ever undertaken.

Keeping it (very) local.

We turned our greatest liability - a mountain of Classic Unbelts that simply wouldn’t sell - into our greatest asset: rainbow reels of deconstructed, re-joined elastic. Then, we worked with hometown industrial designers, steel fabricators, and powder-coaters to create bright, dopamine-hit-inducing hardware to go with it.

Totally (re)mixable.

(Re)Mix's interchangeable belt bands and buckles that lets you customize your stretch belt while moving us closer towards three key sustainability goals:

  • Environmental sustainability: Allowing you to build a versatile Unbelts collection piece-by-piece instead of belt-by-belt
  • Operational sustainability: Making duping harder by putting (Re)Mix Unbelts’ final design stage in the hands of our customers
  • Economic sustainability: Eliminating our warranty program’s two-way shipping costs and carbon footprint by simply sending replacement parts

We want you to own less, but own better, and to be able to replace what you’ve got. Having a mix-and-match stretch belt design makes that possible.

One buckle, three ways.

No wiggle, little wiggle, lotta wiggle: we designed a buckle that can be restyled according to your outfit or mood. It's all in the spirit of doing more with less.

Global online (Re)Mix shopping will be available in early 2025. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified before our first drop - and consider asking for an Unbelts gift card if you'd like your (Re)Mix to be a holiday gift!

Our November/December Edmonton-only launch gives a chance to refine our product offering while honouring the very local roots of the (Re)Mix project. By serving our first (Re)Mix customers in-person, we'll be able to:

- See which colours are most popular

- Collect feedback on usability and styling

- Thoroughly test an online customization tool before launch

If you'd like to be part of this feedback process, join our newsletter (in page footer) and Insta crew so you'll be first to know when our December survey drops. We can't wait to get a (Re)Mix on you in the new year.

Our introductory pricing through Holidays 2024 is $59 per belt (band, buckle, and adjuster), with additional components available  at $30 (band) and $20 (buckle or adjuster).

Yes. Our off-the-shelf sizing adjusts from 20-54” waists, but we customize to any size at no extra cost. Just email us at hello@unbelts.com to get your order started.

Most of them, but not all - we offer neutral colours as overstock becomes available from ends of roll, production waste, etc.

Yes. They’re subject to our 30-Day Love-It Guarantee (return for any reason within 30 days - extended until January 31, 2025 for Nov/Dec 2024 purchases), and are warrantied against manufacturer defects forever. The (Re)Mix’s modular design also allows you to purchase replacement parts if your original belt needs general repairs from regular use.

(Re)Mix’s straps are washable in cold water; hang to dry to extend the life of the elastic. We do not recommend washing (Re)Mix’s hardware - the powder-coating may chip.

Classic rainbow straps are 72% polyester, 17% nylon, 11% (concealed) latex, while Intrepid straps are 63% recycled polyester with 37% (concealed) latex. The hardware is powder-coated steel; all metal is completely encased and will not irritate sensitive skin.
