Pricing for sustainability

Pricing for sustainability

One of the toughest things about running a business? Pricing your product or service - especially in a changing economy. Since we've launched, we've worked hard to keep Flatter:Me priced as accessibly as we can. Lately, though, with labour prices increasing in China (awesome!) and the Canadian dollar suffering, it's become impossible to stick to a $31 price point without sacrificing the values that make us who we are as a business. If we're not paying our tailors a living wage, we're not giving our team the upward mobility we want to. If we cut the quality of our materials, we're not giving you the value you deserve.

That's why, after an intense few months spent with Excel spreadsheets and a calculator, we're introducing a price of $35. This is the minimum we need to be able to continue to pay our tailors a living wage, afford the high-quality materials you've come to expect from a Flatter:Me, and offer a level of customer service we're proud of.

What's not changing? Lots! We will continue to subsidize shipping, and we'll always maintain our 100% satisfaction guarantee. We'll keep making a belt that's made to withstand every-single-day wear.

Since we launched as a very small business in 2011, we've been floored by your enthusiasm and encouragement - especially when it comes to our social goals and commitment to quality jobs and products. Our plans for the future rest entirely on your support, and we're honoured and delighted to have such a passionate crew of cheerleaders. We're always here to answer any questions you might have, and we'll always keep you up-to-date on our progress.

With a great big thank-you from
